I am a Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, Stockholm University, but am currently on leave to serve as Deputy Governor of the Riksbank.
Most of my research addresses macroeconomic performance over different horizons. My main fields of interest are:
Wage setting and economic performance.
The implications of fiscal and monetary regimes.
Exchange rate dynamics.
Institutions and long-run growth.
I have previously been a member of, e.g., the Swedish Fiscal Policy Council (Finanspolitiska rådet), the board of the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen), the Expert Group on Public Economics (ESO), the Macroeconomic council of the National Institute of Economic Research (Konjunkturinstitutet), the Scientific Council of the Swedish National Debt Office (Riksgäldskontoret) and SNS Konjunkturråd 2012. I was Deputy Head of the Department of Economics 2019-2024, Deputy Director/Director of the Center for Monetary Policy and Financial Stability (CeMoF) 2021-2024 and Associate Editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Economics 2019-2023.
